1.
I envisioned myself a millionaire. Then I burned my clothes 'till I was bare. Too proud to see, too tough to care. I considered myself tough to ignore. Then I worked my hands 'till I was sore. Now I consider myself a little more. I remember the time when you went away. Now you're standing here close, telling me you'll stay. But I remember the time when you went away. I mostly miss you when I've been driving too long. Passing through some ghost town; doing it wrong. Maybe I'll find some comfort singing this song.
2.
Well, what do you say? I think we should drive away. What do you do when your pride is hurt, and your back is too? I guess I'll carry on out of fear. Surely I'll die if I stay here. I was sad and cold and slightly bruised. I was a tired wreck, but I was thinking of you. And it was getting me through. It was keeping me alive. As I drive and drive and drive and drive. Your pretty blue eyes. How seemingly easy you take flight. I guess I'll carry on out of fear. Surely I'll die if I stay here. I'm sad and cold and slightly bruised. I'm a tired wreck, but I'm thinking of you. And it's getting me through. And it takes days to get to the coast and to glimpse it's waves. But we stayed true. And when I got there I called you. I said that I'd carry on out of fear. Surely I die if I stayed here. I was sad, cold and slightly bruised. I was a tired wreck, but I was thinking of you.

Time Alone 04:24
They tell me time is on my side. Is that the truth? Or are they trying to hide the tails of men sitting and waiting, for the sky to give truth and grant vision? And I'm weathered from my time alone. Judgement and patience followed. Follow me, take my hand. I was broke, and you made me whole again.
4.
Don't give your heart to chance; you'll lose faith believing. Don't give your head to love; you'll never find reason. I tried digging a hole that I could run to. But I stopped digging when I realized it went right through to you. Oh, I should have known better. Don't lose your head when it gets rough in the morning. Just tuck your tail instead, and keep yourself moving. I was always told, your stagnant if you're sleeping. But I soon grew cold when I took no time for dreaming. Oh, I should have known better.

about

In late December 2011, Andrew Laviolette spent one month living in Old Crow, Yukon Territory, Canada. This album was recorded during a winter storm that passed through Old Crow during that time, bringing with it - 50 degrees Celsius temperatures and 100 km/h winds from the southwest. Southwest Wind is an album that features four previously unreleased Laviolette originals blending with the sounds of a truly northern winter night.
